Why are funds till closed to new investors?

I was just wondering what the logic of funds like OAKBX & LCROX being closed to new investors when the markets are in total free fall. Wouldn’t you want the possibility of getting some fresh money into your funds to avoid selling your assets under stress to those abandoning the ship?

First, I dont know why your post has all sort of RTF tags in it.

Anyway. OAKBX can be purchased directly from Oakmark funds online.

- You could dowload an application and send your check, or call their 800 number, or transfer assets to them from another company. simple to do they will help you. i just finished my transfer.

The reason why funds close to new investors is becuase people invest in that fund and money raised from it got too large. The managers had to stop the inflow of funds to it. Yes you can buy direct but that takes a few days to process them and current holders can syill buy. It is a way to control the fund. Same was true in the dot com era when everything went up up and up. OAKBX is a great fund but i perfer ETF's now.
