States need bail outs?

California just bought all new SUV's for their Administrators.

They want $7 bill for a new high speed rail system tied in with Las Vegas.

Massachusettes is doing the same kind of spending.

Cut the extravagant cost and spending and they won't need bail outs.

Avg---I a am pretty sure that by the time it is all over the federal government will have ATM machines on every corner and nobody will need to work.  Of course, at that point the dollar will be worthless.

I am puzzled:

And Minnesota finance officials are delaying a $42 billion bond sale due to the credit crunch. The sale, scheduled for Tuesday, was to finance expansion of the state's 911 communications system. - ap news story

42 billion on a 911 system, come on. Anyone else here think 42 billion sounds pretty high. Hell, Embarq could be bought for 5 billion, Quest another 5. Or you could just buy half of VZ for that amount of cash. If I lived in Minn. I would have some serious quetions.

Hi Ben,

Is the $42 billion possibly a misprint?  There ain't enough people in Minnesota to support such an outrageous sum.  Maybe $42 million?  Bob U.

The state normally sells bonds to investors to raise money for such projects, and it had planned to put $42 million worth up for sale next week. But three of the five major investment houses that normally bid on Minnesota bonds have gone out of business.

If I remember correctly, the Left Press was patting California on the back for spending billions on stem cell research. It seems the Left loves to throw money down a money pit if it serves their propaganda purposes.

Other than cutting defense spending, what cuts to the federal budget have the Dems ever proposed?
