Now look who wants a timetable for withdrawal from Iraq...

IRAQ does!

"Iraq's national security adviser said Tuesday his country will not accept any security deal with the United States unless it contains specific dates for the withdrawal of U.S.-led forces. ..."

http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20080708/ap_on_re_mi_ea/iraq

Bush can't even create a loyal oil-client state, after thousands of our troops died scrambling for non-existant WMD.  What a flub. Meanwhile,  Osama STILL bin Missin.

I've got an idea for the Iraqis:   We will withdraw troops per your wishes, and then we will send you Bush, Cheney, Rice, and throw in Rummy too.  Yours to do with as you will.

I think we can make this work! Deal?

"Al-Rubaie spoke to reporters after briefing Grand Ayatollah Ali al-Sistani in Najaf on the progress of the government's security efforts and the talks.

"Our stance in the negotiations underway with the American side will be strong ... We will not accept any memorandum of understanding that doesn't have specific dates to withdraw foreign forces from Iraq," al-Rubaie said."

Grand Ayatollah al-Sistani still controls Iraqi politics. Bush created another Islamic-controlled state in the Middle East. What will the next Grand Ayatollah of Iraq do when 78 year old Sistani dies?

This is great -looks like Bush will pull out the troops now.  he said that we would not longer remain Iraq if they did not want us there.

"In Iraq, anti-American Shiite cleric Muqtada al-Sadr has kept the issue in the foreground — and put pressure on the government — by consistently calling for an immediate withdrawal of U.S. troops."

We now have Muqtada al-Sadr, Al Qaeda in Iraq, and Barack Hussein Obama  all in agreement.

I think that we can all agree that Bush, with Condi Rice has done an excellent job motivating Iraq to establish these timetables.

Both of them should receive National as well in World Medals for their efforts and results.

Can you imagine any other conquered country in history telling their conquerer when they can/should remove their troops?

I can just see Vichy France or Poland telling Germany to remove its troops in 1944.  Or heck, Burma, telling the British to leave after they liberated the country from the Japanese.

I had not heard Senator Obama call for 'immediate withdrawal'.  If you have, supply your link.  If you cannot, will assume you recognize you cannot, as your  statement is false.

I believe the stated strategy is to schedule drawndowns over a 16-month period, to begin sometime after Obama is sworn in.   That is not "immediate". Its a timetable. And it is, in general terms,  what the democratically elected govt of Iraq wants.

Shall we stay longer than we are wanted?

Yes, he said that in 2007. But today he decided he won't do it. Does his word mean anything?

I guess Bush and Obama are pretty much alike.

Bush "refined" his answer, just like Obama does.  And, didn't you say that it is good to refine positions, but not oil?

Obama wanted all troops out by March of 2008. That's past immediate, that's yesterday, starting 16 months previous. My statement is not false, look it up in your Funk & Wagnals. Now General Obama has stated that he sees no obstacles to withdrawing over a 16 month time period, starting today. I'm sure he can get Wesley Clark to agree with him, even though General Petraeus does not. Since Petraeus is the architect of the strategy that has worked, it's a sure bet Obama won't agree with him. I'm also certain that Al Qaeda will look forward to Obama's latest cut and run timetable, as will Muqtada al-Sadr. You people on the Left are a hoot. Last year your party, and Obama, was saying Iraq was a failure and the strategy wouldn't work and we should get out now. Today you are saying Iraq is in such fine shape, we can be out of there in 16 months, no problem. You were wrong a year ago, and you are wrong now. Obama is clueless, he just wants to be President.

Obama never supported Bush's invasion of Iraq. Go figure.

Now you're comparing US troops ( They'll welcome us with flowers! ) with the Wehrmacht and SS ? Or the British ( Damn you, punkawallah! Pull! Pul! ) colonialists whom the Burmese hated ? My, that doesn't sound very flattering or support-the-troops!-like........It appears that you, Governor, are The Islamofascist or The Leftist that max has been jeremiah-ing us about.
