Cindy McCain.
Bet you would have never guessed this one! No matter your politics. The media will never tell of this, so pass it on.
There was an article in the Wall Street Journal on Cindy McCain, John's wife. All I ever saw was this attractive woman standing beside John. I was surprised how talented and involved with world problems she is. This is a summary of the article. She graduated from Southern Cal and was a special-needs teacher. After her Dad died she became involved with his beer distributing firm and is now the chairwoman. Sales have doubled since she has taken over from her father. They have a marriage prenuptial agreement, her assets remain separate. She is involved around the world clearing land mines - travels to these countries on a detonation team and serves on their board. They have a 19 year old serving in Iraq, another son in the Naval Academy, a daughter recently graduated from Columbia Univ., an adopted daughter in high school, and a son who is the finance guy at the beer firm. Raised kids in Phoenix, Az rather than Washington DC.(better atmosphere) He commuted. In 1991, Mrs. McCain came across a girl in an orphanage in Bangladesh. Mother Teresa implored Mrs. McCain to take the baby with severe cleft palate. She did so without first telling her husband. The couple adopted the girl who has had a dozen operations to repair her cleft palate and other medical problems. They have a Family Foundation for children's causes. She's active with 'Halo Trust' - to clear land mines, provide water and food in war ravaged and developing countries. She will join an overseas mission of 'Operation Smile', a charity for corrective surgery on children's faces. She has had two back surgeries and became addicted to pain killers. She talks openly about it which she says is part of the recovery process. I'm surprised the media is so quiet about her attributes. She sounds more capable than Hillary or Obama. We would really get two for the price of one. A person with business and international experience. John did work for the firm for awhile when he left the Navy. She, however, has the real business experience. Very interesting.

Cindy McCain may be a good person, mother and there is no reason to believe she is not proud of this country. But inherited a family fortune by distributing alcohol. In 1998 United States took a sad note of its three millionth highway fatality.By conservative estimates half of those deaths were alcohol related.Currently about 15 thousand Americans die every year as a result of drinking and driving. Alcohol kills 100 000 people in this country every year. That is 274 deaths/day. Beer accounts of 80% of excessive alcohol compsumption in the United States. Alcohol industry controls one of the most influential political lobbies in this coutry. And very successful one. In 1950 alcohol taxes represented 6.2% of total federal revenues and by 1990(last statistic I was able to find) they were less than 0.5% of total federal budget.Current tax on a six pack is 32 cents. Alcohol industry has a free access to airways and continues to target young people. Cindy McCain overcome addiction to narcotic prescription pills. It is too bad that experience didn't stop her from profiting from selling #1 drug. She can be a very patriotic person but she cannot be a role model. And she is another of John McCain liabilities. Milan

Whatever you may feel about alcohol, it is legal, and her involvement in that industry should not be held against her. However, here is where she will face some tough questioning....or perhaps not, if McCain holds a few more barbecues for the press. Hensley & Co., founded by Cindy McCain's
late father, holds federal and state
licenses to distribute beer and
lobbies regulatory agencies on
controversial alcohol issues that
involve public health and safety.
The
company has argued against such
groups as Mothers Against Drunk
Driving in fighting proposed federal
rules that would require alcohol
content information on every package
of beer, wine and liquor. So....Cindy finds herself in direct opposition to MADD. Not the best place to stake out a position.

What is wrong with me!!! How could I not realize that Cindy McCAin is so bad. She rescues a child that needs surgery and adopts her, how bad is that. Her two son's are in Iraq, fighting with the military. This lady should be booked on drunk driving charges. Now, lets compare her to the sainted Michelle Obama. She is just now proud of her country. She has never done a thing for a soul. She just demands that people bow down for her. Maybe she needs to demonstrate a little humility and maybe she needs to demonstrate that she is willing to help people, instead of stepping on them on her way to power. And Oh yeah, the alchohol thing. Is that like the Feminist groups that so skewered Bill Clinton for abusing women? Ha, ha, ha, ha....LOL.

I don't know. But now that you've personally made Cindy McCain a legitimate topic in this campaign, I am sure more data will come out of the woodwork.

Maxim, I like Cindy McCain also, but then again I don't think Michelle Obama is so bad either. She seems pretty open about her flaws and the mistakes she has made, just as her husband does. One thing about her, I doubt if she has ever let John McCain tell her what she can or cannot do. She is a heck of a lot less the Stepford Wife than her detractors make her out to be. Milan, IMO, MADD was a very needed voice 15 years ago, but all groups like that eventually go too far. As someone who has been caught up in a few sobriety checkpoints after working the 2nd shift, I'm know I am against mass roundups with no evidence of wrongdoing. Those type of police actions scare me, and MADD has been one of the groups behind them. -dale Myra- Here is Cindy Hensley McCain's Wikipedia bio. It has most of the information Maxim talked about.

Max - good info on Cindy McCain. One thing you wrote was, I'm surprised the media is so quiet about her attributes. Part of that is their own doing. They have been quiet about touting their virtues, and very protective of their family privacy - a fact that is likely to work to their detriment as the campaign goes on. They may react negatively to the spotlight that will inevitably be thrust upon their family members. Notice how infrequently McCain himself brings up his POW experiences. He virtually never mentions his son in the military and the second about to be. (Having sons on active duty puts McCain at odds with most of our Senators and Congresspersons from BOTH parties). To the McCains, such duty is simply a GIVEN. Incidentially, Cindy McCain has been a race car drive and a pilot herself. An e-mail I receive on here also mentioned another story about her: "... Mrs. McCain also is a hands-on philanthropist. She sits on the board of Operation Smile, which arranges for plastic surgeons to fix cleft palates and other birth defects. She also has helped organize relief missions to Micronesia. During a scuba-diving vacation to the islands, Mrs. McCain took a friend to a local hospital to have a cut treated. She was shocked, and saddened, by what she saw. "They opened the door to the OR, where the supplies were, and there were two cats and a whole bunch of rats climbing out of the sterile supplies," she recalled. "They had no X-ray machine, no beds. To me, it was devastating because it was a U.S. trust territory." As soon as she returned home, she arranged for medical equipment and teams of doctors to be sent to treat the island children. Michelle Obama may contribute to CARE, which fights global poverty and works to empower poor women. Cindy sits on its board ...." John McCain may or may not be elected President. You can disagree with him on any number of issues - I certainly do. But with John McCain we would have a President who, right or wrong, would put the interests of his country before the interests of himself or his party. You certainly cannot say that about many, perhaps most, of the other candidates who ran this primary season. McCain - and his wife - are people of honor and integrity, steeped in the old virtues of our Republic. We could do worse. (We have done worse in the past - and we are likely to do worse in the future.) MWL

Beer, for better or worse, is a part of our civilization. The Muslims may be right, perhaps we should ban it. Of course, that didn't work out so good last time we tried it, but, with the right Brown Shirts running enforcement, it could work out. Slightly tongue in cheek. As far as Cindy McCain, she seems to be a great lady. Beautiful inside and out.
