IRS rebate refund?

I am not sure if this is the right board to post this topic but I figured retirees might have more time to respond :-)

I am wondering why I have not received my refund yet. I did my taxes on TurboTax and filed them by March 9th. It said we were eligible for a refund. I asked for direct deposit and gave my bank routing number.

Based on my ss#,  I was supposed to get the refund on May 9th.

Does anyone here know if the IRS is late in sending refunds via direct deposit?

Should I be concerned and try to find out why the refund has not been sent or should I be more patient (difficult for me to be patient) ?

Anyone else experiencing any delays in getting their rebate ? I did check irs.gov but all it says is that my refund should have been deposited no later than May 9th.

Thanks for any input or recommendations you may have.

I did read an article that indicated that some checks went into the wrong accounts.  I know I received mine almost two weeks ago.

I recently received notification from the IRS that the money...refund...would be direct deposited May 9.  Like you so far I've received nothing.  In the notice it gives a phone number to call if you havent received the funds in six weeks.  Do you need the phone number to call?

If you use Turbo Tax, doesn't your year-end refund typically clear through their financial institution (i.e. the direct deposit doesn't show as being from the US Treasury)?  A colleague at work mentioned this and suggested that his rebate would probably take a little longer since it has to clear through that channel.  I don't know how true this may be, and it's definitely worth a call to the IRS #.  Good luck!

hmmm

I never received a written notice from the IRS regarding my rebate. Are we supposed to get something in the mail before the rebate is electronically deposited in my checking account?

I have tried to call the IRS. Too many calls. They are not answering.

I am going on vacation in 2 weeks. It would nice to have that extra money.

do you mind giving me the phone number on your notice? It may be different from the general IRS phone number I called.
Thank you

My mail notice did not arrive until after the electronic deposit.

Jeannette,

You can go to the IRS website and follow the links to check on your rebate status as well.  Sorry I don't have the number handy off my notice.

 Good luck,

Jim

Jim

Thank you. That is the number I called last night and they don't have any information. I did the same thing on line with my ss#, number of exemptions and they say they have no information available.

On the schedule for the bank deposit dates, it says that the rebate would be transfered NO LATER than May 9th (based on my ss#). However, the fine print says that it could be 2 weeks before it shows up in my account.

If it's an electronic transfer/depost, WHY should it take 2 weeks?

This is maddening.

I just checked again and it says "no current information is available".

It gives the same schedule for direct deposit with the following notice:

"Please allow 2 weeks from the date shown on the schedule to receive your payment."

So I guess I'll wait 2 more weeks from May 9th.

It's not clear if you're referring to 2007 tax year rebate or the 2008 stimulus check.  If 2007 rebate, this IRS website was accurate for me:

Philly

sorry, I was talking about the 2008 stimulus check. Should be $1200.

I filed my 2007 Federal schedule using TurboTax. Received my refund within 2 weeks (back in February). Received our $1200 (no action required - direct deposit as was the TT/Federal) to my bank account. This was done on May 4th, with an accounting day of May 5th (of course, by May 6th, it was spent!)
