What your dog says about you.

I had two beagles, Blue and Yellow (both were half-breeds and Blue was the best rabbit dog I've ever owned). Bush has Barney the Scottish Terrier, his dad had Millie the Springer Spaniel. Clinton had Buddy the Lab, Ford had Liberty the Golden Retriever, LBJ had Him and Her, beagles he used to lift off the ground by the ears. JFK had a pet shop full of pets, while Carter had Grits a mongrel of some sort. And Ike had Heidi the Weimaraner.

Ben Stein has two Short Haired German Pointers, named Plato and Brigitte. Which proves he's an intellectual chauvinist.

I suspect if Obama has a dog it's name is Enigma the French Poodle.

ET, "Enigma The French Poodle" made me laugh aloud!  What imagery.

Happy Sunday and happy Mum's day to Mrs. Ted.

Thanks, Queenie. Hope you're having a great Mother's day. Best to you and yours.

Actually, I meant to include Fala, FDR's pet Scottish Terrier but somehow forgot about it when I posted. FDR made some big political points off that dog, which shows what a masterful politician he was.

Clinton gives labs a bad name.

My labs (yes I'm including my one in spirit) voted for BO

My name is Twinlabs and I approved this message.

(BTW, For those in the Columbus Ohio area, Krogers has a dozen roses for ten bucks. Good idea for mum today)

Cats probably aren't too happy with the Clinton clan either.  Remember how Socks got shuffled off to go live with WJC's assistant?  Mee-yow.INDEED.

Happy mum's day to you, Twin, complete with roses in your fave shades.

:)

Edited to add:  On this day, it seems appropriate to add what me own dear departed mum, The Dowager Empress, advised me when I began dating about how to judge a man:  observe how he treats his mother and how he treats animals.

She was certifiably and clinically crazy.  She was not stupid in any, way, shape or form.  Wonder what she would have thought of election 2008 in this regard?  ;)

I've got a good friend with a Lab. They seem to be very loyal animals. What's your's names?

My eldest (now gone) was Raleigh

My youngest (will be 12 next month) is Dakota.

Best dog there is, but I am biased.

Both yellows

BTW Queen Hetty:

Happy Mums day to your mum. Best accomplishment she had was bringing you in to this world. I for one am grateful to her for that.

Twin, you'll make me cry.  Thanks for those kind, sweet words.

Hope your mummy's doing fine today too and going strong, just like her wonderful daughter.

Ted,

I'm bald, so I compensate by owning an Old English Sheepdog (Maggie).

We had beagles when I was a kid - my dad was a hunter. I love beagles. They are probably the cutest dogs God has ever managed to put on this earth, but also, IMO, among the dumbest. There's always a problem with owning an animal which prefers to follow a scent over your command.:) Or perhaps my dad just had a knack for picking out dumb dogs.

Hetty,

Hillary had Socks shipped off to protect the cat's "honor". IMO, a wise decision. Bill has always had a problem controlling himself. :)

Which makes them the best rabbit dogs, they never give up, never quit, follow their noses til they drop. Just about have to beat them off a track. You got to love 'em. Blue had one the best noses I ever saw. Yellow couldn't track a steak, but always followed Blue.

Not great pets, you're right.
