Which Bond Fund?

Looking for a solid bond fund that will consistenly beat CD returns.  The bond fund will be a beneficiary IRA with the minimum required distributions taken out each year.  Bond will be > 55K and <60K.  Time horizon for liquidation is 10 to 15 years.  Opinions/thoughts are welcomed.

Recently was suggested going to a balanced fund instead?

Any thoughts suggestions?

Thank You.

Some alternatives:

1. LSBRX/LSBDX = IMO, the best bond fund manager out there.  Only problem: Lead mgr  Dan Fuss is getting pretty old.     Its the only OEF bond fund that I own.

2.  A combo:   TIP + BWX = Global sovereign bonds.

3.  OAKBX:  A great balanced fund.  They worry as much about risk of a 'drawdown' in NAV as they do about beating the other guys.. A big plus IMO.   Excellent returns too, given they have had about 30-35% of the portfolio in Treasuries most of the time.

4. Runner-ups:   T Rowe Spectrum income fund;    Vanguard Wellesley. Vanguard Wellington.

Good hunting.

Dan Fuss is 74 yrs old, I believe.   I'm not concerned (yet).  LSBDX is a significant part of our Trad Ira's.  I noticed at their recent teleconference, his female associate handled it.  Obviously, Loomis Sayles is starting to groom others to eventually replace him.
