Going to jump into BRK.B

I'm going to start buying BRK.B through periodic investing at sharebuilder next week. I've been meaning to do this for years, and finally set up the account.

Don't know if now's the best time, but hopefully it's OK for the long haul.

Regards,.....marc

If you are a long time investor in BRK.B then this is a good time as any. BRK.B investors tend to be long term. This is evident in the lack of interest of forum members to post here :)

It is hard to determine if it is a good time to buy, but the company has diversified interests and great income. Look at share price performance over index in the annual report on the website, both in up and down markets. That will indicate a high performance stock. Big question is Buffett, but I think he has build a machine that will keep on running. It is my largest stock share holding other than my employer. Bigfoot

I recently bought at $4600 and then sold because I think in this market it will go lower.  Look at a chart on Yahoo Finance for several years...off hand around $4000 looks better and someone ssaid even lower in the mid $3000 would be a good buy.

anytime is a good time to invest in BRK.B

Ten years ago i heard the same thing: Warren Buffett is too old (then 67). Same old today.

Yes, he is very important to Berkshire Hathaway. However, anyone who thinks he was able to do all this without having built a tight strong brilliant team behind him should think again.

Best of all, investing in BRK,B u invest in a stock that is actually a lot more like a mutual fund, so no worry about taxes on capital gains or dividends until you need the money to spend and decide to cash out.

He is the best and most successful investor of the past 50 yrs,  If that is not enough proof, what is?

I actually think if we are going into a deep recession (I hope not), BRK is the way to go. It has 40b in cash and 100b of liquid asset that could be used for picking up super bargains. Look at what Buffett is doing recently. It has purchased 60% of Marmon, which as to do with construction materials. And it is taking a position of Swiss Re (will control 20% of its re-insurance), which got hurt by subprime investment recently. And  Burkshire is even getting into insurance for municipal bonds.

It is difficult to say when is the best time to buy BRK shares. It does well as the market is doing poorly and vise versa. And it is probably quite undervalued but the market usuallly undervalue a conglomerate.

On the other hand, BRK is a very low risk investment. If you are patient, you probably won't loss money.

DCA is always good. I think it's overpriced and a good price is 3700. As I've said before I bought back in 99 and it still has not doubled, so it's a bad investment if you buy too high.
