Thanks again charlotte. While we're on the subject of penny stocks, when do you expect the 8-K to come out for NDOL....i know it's always being delayed and it's been quiet here on M*

Hello Meehnam18:
The Munchkin Man would like to thank you for your inquiry.
The Munchkin Man uses Scottrade for his penny stock trading and investing.
This is not because the Munchkin Man considers Scottrade as any better than the other discount brokers.
Instead, it was just the first one the Munchkin Man happened to choose.
There was also a local Scottrade branch office in the Munchkin Man's area -- but no local office for any of the other discount brokers.
When the Munchkin Man opened his Scottrade account, the Munchkin Man wanted to do it in person, so he could meet the brokers and watch how they go about their daily business.
The Munchkin Man usually drops in for a visit about one a week. There's a pretty girl working there the Munchkin Man likes. They also always give the Munchkin Man a free Diet Coke.
The Munchkin Man is very glad that Charlottebandit gave you a good description of Ameritrade. Comparing the two, Ameritrade actually sounds like a better deal than Scottrade, especially if you like to buy a lot of stocks on foreign exchanges with proxy U.S. Pink Sheet symbols.
For example, Scottrade charges a base commission rate of $27 for a broker assisted purchase of a stock trading on a foreign exchange which has a proxy U.S. Pink Sheet symbol. This applies to a lot of stocks trading on the Canadian and the Australian exchanges.
If the Munchkin man is not mistaken, the commission for the purchase of such a stock with Ameritrade is $9.99. That's a mighty big difference.
In fact, the Munchkin Man believes that $9.99 is Ameritrade's baseline commission fee for all of their penny stock purchases.
In contrast, the basic commission rate for the purchase of domestic bulletin board (OB) and pink sheet (PK) penny stocks through Scottrade is $7.00.
However, if the penny stock is under $1 a share, Scottrade tacks on an extra commission of 1/2% or 0.005 of the principal to the baseline $7.00 commission. If you buy a lot of shares, that can really add up.
The Munchkin Man does not know, at what point, or if there is any point all, when Ameritrade charges a similar extra fee their baseline $9,99 commission rate for the purchase of a penny stock.
Whereas Scottrade charges a smaller commission fee for regular domestic and pink sheet penny stocks, they tend to kill you with that $27 commission for those foreign stocks with U.S. proxy pink sheet symbols.
So, if you like to buy a lot of those foreign stocks with U.S. Pink Sheet symbols, you are definitely better off with Ameritrade.
The Munchkin Man will probably stick with Scottrade, primarily because he is too lazy to switch, and also because he likes that pretty girl working in their office.
The Munchkin Man will close for now by wishing that both he, and his colleague, Charlottebandit, have given you enough information to assist you in your final decision.
Good luck to you.
Best Wishes,
Munchkin Man

Greetings Again, Meehnam18!
The Munchkin Man is very glad to receive your inquiry.
You wrote:

The Munchkin Man sent an email message to Mr. Parkin, the Vice-President of Legal Affairs, today, on Thursday, May 18, 2006.
Please forgive the Munchkin Man.
For the Munchkin Man wasn't very easy on Mr. Parkin.
Apparently, the Munchkin Man's email message caught Mr. Parkin's attention.
He replied to the Munchkin Man's message fairly quickly.
A cut and pasted copy of Mr. Parkin's email reply appears below.
He answered the Munchkin Man's email message with a one sentence reply, which appears as the first sentence underneath the line below: ______________________________
The financials will be received by us today and we shall file tomorrow or Monday the LATEST.

Hey Yo Mr. Parkin!
You and the Munchkin Man need to have a little pow-wow.
The Munchkin Man and his legions of loyal Munchkin Maniacs all over the world are in panic city right now.
Please write back quick and tell the Munchkin Man what's going down with this 8-K report and the financials for NWOG and when we can expect to see them.
You do that and the Munchkin Man will make you an Honorary Munchkin Maniac!
Okay, dude?
Otherwise...................
Whatcha Gonna' Do..........................
When The Power Of Munchkin Mania..........................
The Most Powerful Force In The Universe..............................
Runs Wild Over You!
Peace!

Let's take a look at Mr. Parkin's reply once again: _____
"The financials will be received by us today and we shall file tomorrow or Monday the LATEST." _____
The best interpretation the Munchkin Man can get out of this is that the 8-K report will be released either tomorrow, Friday, May 19, 2006, or Monday, May 22, 2006.
Once again, a number of investors are selling out of anger and impatience with the delay. As a result, its share price has been going down, and is now at $0.59 a share at this exact moment.
Today the Munchkin Man sold 25% of his shares. The Munchkin Man is planning to buy them back when the Munchkin Man receives the sense that it has hit a final bottom before the 8-K report comes out.
At this point in time, the Munchkin Man would not be surprised if that bottom is $0.50 or below.
The Munchkin Man will keep you up to date.
Good luck to you.
Best Wishes,
Munchkin Man

I've been with Ameritrade for several years. Generally, I've been pleased with the service. They do have a decent DRIP program, for at least certain items. They purchased EVDVF for me and have had no problems re-investing the dividends. All the mutual funds and most of the stocks and CEFs I've checked on have been acceptable for re-investment. However, for some reason, SSDUF did not qualify for DRIP. They have promptly answered my questions about DRIP, even when the answer was not what I wanted. A friend of mine got a hot tip on some mining stock. Ameritrade has been buying the penny stocks for him smoothly and quietly -- and for $9.99/ trade. No fuss no matter the quantity. I dithered between Scottrade and Ameritrade. Both have offices near me, but neither has a good-looking girl there or free sodas, so I never stop by. As I recall, I went with Ameritrade because they had a better selection of NTF funds at the time. Since then, I, too, have just been to lazy to wander around. Zwilnik

You all should really pull up your stakes and look to Scottrade. Etrade is basically sunk with their exposure to subprime mortgages. They are a publicly traded company. TD Ameritrade is a...publicly traded company. Scottrade is...private no fear of takeover and has the largest network of local branches for online brokers. Meaning that they don't have to cave for a state retirement fund or anyone, you don't have to worry about a merger and suffering through the lack of customer service, etc. You want to see your broker, you go to their local office with Scottrade. Argue on the phone with a Call Center Ameritrade person. Seems pretty simple logic... $7 trades, free of debt, free of merger, my money is with Scottrade!
