I hope it's not an indication of Oakmark's future.

OAKMARK (X) TWO

Hello to all of you OAKMARK INVESTORS. I just jumped into OAKIX ( Roth IRA ), and OAKMX, through my 401(k) at work. My first ever exposure to any OAKMARK FUND.

I am losing $$$ on both so far YTD, but I am about to pump more $$$ into OAKIX, like my full Roth contribution for 2005. The heck with spreading it over the remainder of 2005. My guess is that the market may do a little better in 2Q, 3Q and 4Q, as HIGH OIL PRICES become a fact of life, and people start budgeting for the high cost of gasoline. I think it is here to stay.

Inflation worries are still a concern, and the jobs outlook, still a significant variable in the mix.

Possibly the interest rate concern will take a back seat as well.

I am a big fan of value investing, and I think that is what the OAKMARK FUNDS are all about. Also, I am a big fan of Western Europe.

Good choice with OAKIX... I invest in this fund also. Alot of folks prefer the global fund over the international counterpart but I've got faith that performance will continue to remain strong. Hopefully we can ignite some excitement over the Dodge and Cox and Vanguard fans. Oakmark is a solid shop with a sound value investment philosophy. It meets my criteria for long term investing of companies that have not yet achieved their value. Good luck.

I own both OAKMX and OAKGX. I have both of them in my Roth IRA and also in a taxable account. I like the fact that the fund managers go where ever they find the best value. Also Oakmark must have the easiest web site to purchase, transfer and redeem shares through.

Why is it that I see several recommendations for Oak mark funds in other forums yet see so little activity here.
I am very pleased with Oak mark in general as many of there offerings are as good as any of there rivals.Only thing I see is that there Fees are slightly higher than I like, but not to the point that I am inclined to leave.
Dave.

Maybe the reason

It could be that investors who own Oakmark funds are satisfied with their decision to invest in them and do not need to be second quessing and asking questions.

I think you hit the nail on the head.

It's about the same way on the T.Rowe Price Forum, except we do have a little more conversations there.

Also, Morningstar probably started this Oakmark Forum, because they are unabashedly in love with Oakmark. Their home office is in Chicago also.

I have found that most people like to post when they are pissed off. Since the funds have been doing reasonably well lately, the complaints have been few and far between. Even OAKLX has been picking up lately. I own OAKLX, OAKWX and OAKGX and and I plan on adding to OAKWX later on in the year.

Me thinks this should be in the Gen Fund Boards

It will also expoose many others to OAKMARK Funds, eventhough only if directly invested and NA thru brokers. much like BRUFX...

As for Overlapping?
I beleive in Happiness is a Back UP. and in as far as Investing .Owning and investing into 2 funds per catagory..

I've had Funds Do a Hard Close and scramble to find a replacment while others Changed managment for the worse & Underperformed my #2 choice..

Oakmark is one of my Limo Clients here in Chicago and have been invested with them for yrs..In the begining to get and maintain their business and later as a core holding..

I still to this day, bug them now and then with talking about BRUFX but they all know each other in both Business and Social Circles..in our Town..

Spread the Wealth...

Wonder how OAKBX has done vs Index's lately?
Havn't done that in awhile..

I posted a reply yesterday in the "PRWCX vs. OAKBX" thread. I'd like to elaborate a little bit as it pertains to this question.

For about a dozen years, I've held several funds in the "Big Three" -- Fido, TRP, and Vanguard. Also purchased a couple of other funds through Fidelity (such as ING's Russia Fund, Van Kampen Global, etc.) that I had heard about here and there.

I also have a 457 plan through Hartford. To make a long story short, for several reasons I kept most of that money in their "general" account (i.e., the equivalent of a passbook savings account, with a fixed interest rate).

(Among other things, the basic notion behind tax deferred accounts is that when one retires, one's income
