A decade ago, when Bill Clinton was President, the argument was that it would take a decade to get oil if we opened up areas off the coast and in Anwar.  I hope we don't repeat the same mistake now in not opening these areas up.  The demand for oil is only going to go up as China and India continue to grow.  I'm all for conserving.  I don't own an SUV and both my wife and I car pool to work.  I don't believe that conserving alone will solve our energy problem though and I don't see new technologies and alternate fuels replacing our dependence on oil in the next 20 years.  I do believe that allowing for drilling our own natural resources can bridge the gap until new technologies and alternate fuels can reduce our need for oil.  We put our country at a great disadvantage, by not utilizing our own natural resources.  We send billions of dollars overseas to countries that are in many cases not friendly to our country.  I think this energy problem has the potential to devestate our economy if we don't do something about it.  Topics offshore oil View Complete Thread
