Enjoying The Dance...I'm getting in on this one FundOfFunds  07-12-2008, 12:21 AM | Post #2538201  |

2001-2004 was the last time I really poured money into the market. I held (never see those prices again?) what I bought during that down cycle (rebalancing quarterly) and switched most new contributions after 2004 to mostly fixed income products (65%-35%). I had a couple false starts when I would creep up contributing in equity funds but along Dec 07 I started higher dollar cost averaging again into index funds and also this time T Rowe Spectrum Growth & International Funds (Fund of Funds). As of the last few weeks, I've really geared up those dollar cost averaging contributions. I will continue buying-buying-buying until it seems like things are getting too good for too long again. (I'm tempted at some point to roll everything in so I don't buy on the upswing and when it goes high enough throw a % back in fixed rate products.) This is a great time to have real cash (not 60-80% of previously invested cash from sold off losses) at the ready to buy-buy-buy before the next wave comes along ruining my buying opportunities. At some point the shopping spree is over and I go back to a 65-35 contribution ratio between fixed-equity contributions. I hope this market stays low and lower for 3-5 years, as I'm 20 years out from retirement. I would really enjoy one or two more real buying opportunities before my wage earning days are over. It will either all come back up again or if it doesn't then the world will be in such chaos what will it matter any way:)
