Yes, the forum format could be made much better, but this is simply a red herring argument for why the bogleheads (formerly diehards) abandoned M* (who so graciously provided them with a forum for so many years).  It was in fact the result of a few of the self-appointed arbiters of all-that-is-acceptable on "their" diehards forum not being able to cause the removal or a particular irritating poster (per their own standards of preferred posting... not per M* standards - the actual owner of the forum).  So they left to form their own closely controlled website somewhere out in the boonies (which they necessarily must advertise every chance they get on this, the forum that wasn't quite good enough for them).

Ahem.

With all due respect, while we are exposing our rouged poisson

 1. He is banned here too, and IMHO for ample due cause (that need not be rehashed, I would think).

 2. He now has a blog of his own, which is easily found (which I will not link to).

3. I have NOT noted anyone named "mth5221" posting there, however.

4. IMHO, You do a disservice to mark him as such a terrific loss (only one poster ever banned, in the history of both forums, BTW) and to not to participate over there and help him out. (Good luck with that!)

5. The interface and S/W here sucked after the change, and still suck.Without moderation, it was destitute, only with moderation did any semblance of life return at all. I participate at many boards, mostly non-finance. The best of them are ruthlessly, but consistently, moderated to a known standard -just as with parenting, uncertainty is a killer.

6.  Rather than doing a favor to the posters, M* (or any forum) benefit greatly from the participants who chose to offer the experience of their years, the sweat of their brow, and the value of the opinions to the vessel. Ad revenue for the eyeballs generated does not go to them, it goes to M*.

That's enough for now, but I'd be happy to go on. Please feel free to correct me if you think I got any of that wrong.
