I found the big difference btwn AMF's and Index Funds ( Beside Rtns, etc) ?

The AMF's Need Closer supervision and Happiness is a back Up.. being ready to replace it as soon as it gets too big.. When this happens? Every One I've had just 'Flatened Out" and Barely beat the Comparable Indexes..

Of course, it can and has gone flat for a Yr or 2 and bounces back, but if it doesn't , Bye Bye.. Move onto the Back up Fund ( that is smaller )

I have yet to hold a AMF forever.. going all the way back to a Fido-Magellon , USGrowth, Sequoia  & Recently , DODBX,DODFX & LCORX .

the only Investments I have held for more than 10 yrs? Are stocks> BerkB,Walgreens,Walmart and Bud-Wise-R..( and 3 others that now on my Wall in a Farme, in  the Bathroom, Right above the Toilet . 1- Hotel Chain &  2 Oil Well deals, which  are now  worthless  and are reminders to my Expert Stock Picking Abilities)
