It's convoluted, but what you do is: Mouse-over the search bar on all M* conversation pages.  Roll down so you're on the "Advanced Search" line that appears and click the mouse.

After the pop-up window has fully loaded and displayed (and not before, I've found), click the check-box at the bottom that says "By Thread Number".  The contents of the pop-up window changes, and you can type the thread number into a box, after which you have to chose "TIAA-CREF Funds" from the drop-down to the right.

When you click "Search" (I think that's what the button says), the thread will come up.
