ALD... SCMariner  07-09-2008, 4:39 AM | Post #2537073  |

Hey Everyone,

Yesterday ALD announced it's third AND fourth quarter distributions for the remainder of the year. No real growth to speak of but after adding more a few weeks ago this comes as welcome news. ALD, along with other BDC's have been beaten down severly these last few months so I can only assume they made this announcement to stimulate their share price and to reassure investors that all is not lost.

The bad news is these distributions, as phrased in the statement, consist mainly of "carryover" from 2007 profits. Further, 2009 distributions are to consist mainly of 2008 "carryover" profits. As much as I like the idea of ALD holding that much cash aside for investors for tough times I can only hope at this point that 2008 profits keep my dividend steady. ALD also has a history of a small "special dividend" at the end of the year so we'll have to see what happens there.

Has anyone else run into statements similar to this? Any comments.....good or bad?
