erryl:If you want to invest in individual stocks in China, read "A Bull In China" by Jim Rodgers (I have).
Buying is easy... knowing what you are buying is hard with many companies listed on multiple exchanges and sometimes governmental ownership of part of the companies. There is more and more info becoming available on ADR's though...
I'm looking forward to hearing how Aalan does his research..
Erryl, you do NOT want to know how I've been doing research. :-} I will say that I am more comfortable with top-down, inductive reasoning, in preference to scrutinizing cash-flow statements or TA. See also my recent responses to Dr. Helen and Anatole.
I bought China stocks because I stopped trusting GEMIX (inherited from a trust fund) and CHN (looked good on track record but...) to deliver the best returns, and when I sold them I had a China-sized hole in my allocation to fill. I may have been hasty, but if China should suddenly get a big rally from the Olympics or whatever, at least I'll have something.
I will try reading Rodgers as you suggest before doing any more China stock-picking. Thanks for your indulgence.
