Re: What mutual funds to pick? Gil  07-07-2008, 1:07 PM | Post #2536379

God bless your service! I'm 71, USN Retired and doing quite well with my simple and straight forward plan. First of all, pick a good mutual fund family such as Fidelity, Rowe....etc...Look at the funds available and their performance since the start of the year. Choose a total of about 10 funds, preferably from a good mix. Choose the positive performing funds from the start of the year. Obviously, these performers have done well during a considerable down year. Put 10% of your investments in each fund and forget about them until the next quarter or approximately 3-4 mos. Take another look at your choices, and tweak them again dropping any poor performers and adding new positive performers. This simple plan should put you in positive territory. Try it, you'll like it!
