I have Ford and GMAC short maturity individual bonds.  GM has been in the news lately with talk of bankruptcy... I think that it is overblown, but even talk of it should not be viewed as a good thing.  GMAC is independent of GM, but it has also been in the news with some subprime housing paper.  Ford stock has been doing well lately... a good sign.  Given equal yield, I would favor Ford right now.  A year ago, I would probably have favored GMAC.

Again... either of these companies should be bought in moderation.  I don't have more than 2% of my portfolio in either one... more than 5% would be pretty risky imho.
