There is no connection, direct or indirect, of Haliburton and the National Debt. Whatever small portion of the deficits were spent in Iraq and whatever small portion of the deficits were spent on contracts to Haliburton don't amount to a hill of beans.
Out of a 9.4 trillion dollar debt, less than 100 billion is spent on Iraq each year. Medicaid spending is nearly three times that amount. Therefore, Medicaid has created the National Debt, abusing your standard. Of the 100 billion per year how much has Haliburton gotten?
Total contracts for Haliburton in Iraq since the war started are 10.8 billion. The majority of those contracts were troop services such as providing food, water, clean clothes, etc. Those were contracts that started under the Clinton administration. And those contracts and other civilian contracts are why our military has it's highest percentage of combat troops to logistics troops in it's history. It's a lean mean fighting machine because it no longer has cadres of cooks and supply troops.
If the 10.8 Billion is why we have a 9.4 Trillion dollar debt, than I truly am insane.
As far as HAL stock price and profits, any resident of the funny farm knows that $140 oil means there's lots of demand for their oil services. But hey, it's not as racy as your theories.
