Re: Annual Turnover %? Limoman  07-01-2008, 9:04 AM | Post #2534381

Well? I'm not expert at this Tax Game by anymeans.. and Others adivce/opinoins maybe warranted...but?

I look at the TE of a Fund as one of the last and not deciding factors..

meaning? Let's Compare a High % turnover fund Like CGMFX vs  a Lower Turnover Fund, like FAIRX

Passt 8 yrs APY's ?

CGMFX = about 40% yr

FAIRX = about 18% yr

And even if CGMFX had a After Tax paid to Investors or 30%? and FAIRX had a 17%?

What fund made you more $?

Of course, if the Differences btwn your choices of 2 funds are Less? Then Have to figure out the #'s to decide on a Cost Basis of Per $10k and see which ends up ahead of the game..( I like using Lippers chart for that )

And FYI? I'm a Pay as you go guy.. I beleived ( and still do) yrs ago that I was going to have a Higher Ordinary Tax rate when I retired, not Less and thus Didn't buy that New IRA stuff comming out back then..and surely, being in a 10-15% tax braket back then and for many yrs thereafter? I didn't use an IRA, since i didn't need the $2k yr Deduction from my taxes, only to end up paying MORE to IRS after I retired.

and sure enough..Now being Retired? No Mortge deductions, no Self employed Deductions to Cheat with, and having alot more $ in Savings and Rtns? I'm paying Twice the taxes I used to have to pay..!

So, I guess it just All Depends on where your at now and where you expect to be come retirement time.. Especially if your going to Inherit Some Decent $ too..

Lower Income Folks are better off paying-as-they go and only put $ into a Roth, maybe.. While the Upper Income folks might be better playing all those Tax games..

And I found Most of these IRA's, Roths and all the other Programs put out by Our Gov't are put together by whom? Lawyers and devious people who want to have More Taxes from the people to fund their "Pork" projects and not have to Raise Taxes to get re-elected.. thus, it's the Old Bait and  Switch Game.. Let us have the Deductions Now, but pay more later trick..

Notice how so many are paying taxes on their IRA's, while converting that $ to Roths? Thinking they'l live till age 90? and come out ahead of the deal?  Baloney! I think that's a Con Game too..

The Gov't is always Sceaming and changing the Game to stay 1 step ahead of us, Just look at what is expected to happen to taxes on CG's? go to 20%? and or how about be taxed as 'Ordinary income"? Since most Investors are Upper & Wealthy Income people anyway!   And Our Economy can't survive on it's people to Save $... It is a Spending economy!

And they also know? the vast majority will Take $ out of their IRA's,#401ks etc. way before Retirement time.. and thus make even More Tax $ on those Suckers..( what? a 10% Penalty & your Reg Taxes your paying now ? Ouch! )

in Theory it looks Good, but not in the real world for real working class people.. All that stuff is designed for the Wealthy and Rich who won't need that $ and ..to scam everyone else into having to pay their way in taxes..
