Paul Farrell, with his tracking of a range of interesting asset allocations (Lazy Portfolios), from those of Bernstein and Burns to a range of others, provides a useful service to many retail investors. I am not an acolyte for his world view, however.
I am afraid that I am not familiar with the meaning of having "jumped the shark" so I may be somehow missing your point :)
I think that if you read my article, you will find that I agree with you. My major issue with some of the better performing static asset allocations models from recent years is that they are not well positioned to deal with high inflation or a sideways / declining market.
I use Farrell as a convenient source of performance data on a range of these portfolios--thats all.
