Let's see..

If I recall correctly (and that is a BIG if), when I was a kid my mom would pay for the doctor's visits direct. Actually, they would bill her. Didn't have to pay at the window. Then came 80/20 insurance (no deductibles, copays, etc). Then managed care.

Mark, you simply can't be telling me that we would be able to afford office visits without insurance. At $50-$100 for an office visit just to have the priviledge to walk in the door, I know it would be tough for me personally. There's no way doctor's offices would cut their costs. Ever been a cash payer at a doctor's office? IF they even accept a cash payer (go figure), they charge the same if not more than they charge the insurance companies.
