This fund has been around since '82 and has very mediocre returns.  Remember, what this fund is.  It is bonds, gold, silver, real estate, swiss francs and only growth stocks.  If you think the dollar will stay weak and inflation continue to be a problem then this fund will continue to perform well but once expectations for a turnaround in the dollar occurs and the fed is able to actaully fight inflation, this fund will likely perform poorly.  That is a timing issue but for someone for a very long time horizon, understand what you are buying.  Most are just chasing performance and have idea how this fund truly fits into a portfolio.  This is not a core holding for a long term investor.  It might be more of a core holding for an older individual that is concerned with inflation eating away at purchasing power and wants a small kicker of equities.
