For the geographically challenged, Syria borders Iraq on the west and Iran borders it on the east. Possibly some may not think Syria and Iran are radical Islamic countries, even though they support terrorist organizations. I don't believe we would be protecting Iraq as much as ourselves, but it may be that some do not think Syrian and Iranian support of radical Islamic terrorists are threats to the West. Personally, I don't care how many bases we maintain in Iraq; the more the better. Strange post to criticize our military for having bases in that part of the world that bred the 9/11 terrorists.
