We went into Afghanistan in what Nov/Dec 2001?    Its 6 1/2 years later.  More time than it took the U.S. with our allies to defeat Tojo, Mussolini and Hitler combined.   We still cannot pacify these murderers?

More bumbling by the Bushists. Gross incompetence in national security.   They went in cheap. They went in light.  Didn't want to take casualties at Tora Bora,  so they bribed Afghani warlords to go in and "git" Osama. Problem: HE bribed them right back and went free -- right into Pakistan.

Then,  we moved troops from Afghanistan to Iraq -- because after all, Iraq was a country with no WMD that had NOT attacked us on 9/11.  But it was a country that had threatened the assasination of Bush 41.    Such a country MUST be stopped!

And oh yeah,  the Taliban, and Al Qaeda kill our troops, then flee back across the national boundary into Pakistan where we cannot follow.

I repeat. gross incompetence.    From the guys who did not defend us on 9/11/2001.  The guys who botched (or  lied about) Iraq's WMDs to the U.N.  The guys who  did not plan for an occupation in Iraq.

I will give kudos to  Defense Secretary Robert Gates. He seems like a level-headed guy.  Must be hell trying to undo the messes that Dick-n-Bush, and Rice-n-Rummy made.    Hope Gates sticks around through the eight years of President Obama (or Prez McCain).
