What a market!!!!
Sold STRA after holding it for three years at what i consider a great profit. It's the first time for me, so i don't know how many others are getting profits like this. Those T/A people probably. :)
What a terrific profit. All thanks to M*. My average cost was $84 & i sold it for $220.
Anyway, the point of this post is to write about how, even though i wanted to sit and look at that nice profit, i have reinvested it all. What a mind blowing experience!!!! I'm drained even.
I am trying to position myself for retirement since i'm almost 61. Yet i still don't have enuff money to retire so i need to grow some of what i have a lot. I'm trying to strike a balance between risk and income. I really do like Josh Peters even though i consider him still growing into his philosophy of investment.
I bought:
O --- 300 shares----- income; got it low so there may be some small growth
GE---100 shares----got it very low as well but bought it yesterday
BAC--100 shares---i have an order in for tomorrow. If i can get it in under $25 then it will bring my cost basis down to $35 which would be terrific
CHI---105 shares----income. It has been such a solid performer for income for years now. BUT, like Anhil and others, i will most certainly SELL it when it reaches the heights. They were all selling for profits and i just couldn't wrap my mind around it but now i see that i could be the owner of double the shares had i sold when everyone else did.
I think this is an awesome time to buy. I started buying too soon though & DJ and UH said as much. But thanks to selling STRA for so much profit, i am able to buy some decent stuff at very low prices.
I am now going to pay very close attention to 52 week high prices. NEver again will i ignore a 52 week high price. I have learned my lesson. I hope i am positioning myself for income and growth during retirement. Hard lessons on investment learned by reading others and observing my emotional craziness. No once can predict their mental quirkness when it comes to investment. I thought Anhil and erryl were crazy to sell CHI and IGR, but i was soooo wrong. I see it now. I didn't see it at all when i needed to see it.
Oh well, marching towards retirement thanks to M*
