Not sure $.16 is a significant loss in itself but today when VNQ went up by something around 1.5% it is notable. Why? Impossible to say as the REA provides no information as to any price moves except perhaps in retrospect in the most broad terms in an annual review - if then. The usual suspects include: substantial loss in a sale; decline in appraised value(s); some sort of loss in investments, etc. etc. Today based on REITs performance it should have gained about $.12 so actual loss of -$.16 represents a real loss of $.28 and that I would say is significant.
Don't buy back into it yet Sy; it would be a premature move.
