When Republican leaders say that public schools should "teach the controversy" about Evolution vs. Intelligent Design in science classes, that is not being exactly pro-science. One is a scientific theory and the other is not.

 I am a scientist by profession, and so like you I get very annoyed when people who know (or should know) better make irresponsible comments  to garner votes.
