But the coffee and doughnuts those thoughtful folks working the polls provide are simply more temptation than I can bear to resist! (-:
But seriously, Tony, as per usual for the past twenty-five years I'll be engaged in my civic responsibility by carrying out my duties as a democratic precinct poll judge on November 4. And I can ASSURE YOU that on MY WATCH there WILL be NO HANKY PANKY goin' down even if it would benefit Bambi or the down ticket dems. Besides I don't think that would be necessary here in Illinois as McCain is sure to get crushed not only statewide but even more so in my very liberal Rogers Park neighborhood. Historically republicans here are outpolled by a factor of ten to one.
BTW Tony you may remember Sullivan High School on North Shore and Bosworth Avenues? That's where I work in the 12th precinct of the 40th ward. I live two blocks away in the 26th precinct whose polling place is directly across from our condominium building but because my precinct captain likes my work he 'grandfathered' me in to stay at the 12th where I used to live when we had our two flat two blocks south on Greenview Avenue where our condo is also located.
Regarding your comment on VA, Tony, I DID consider the possibility of an upset by Bambi. But he'll do poorly in the rural counties and along the tidewater with all those military folks around the Norfolk area and I think that although it may be close he'll probably lose in the end. But maybe, JUST MAYBE a very popular Mark Warner gunning for John Warner's senate seat can provide the lift he'd need to turn the tide against the GOP and McCain. And things may go even better for the dems and Obama if he chooses Jim Webb for his VP. We'll see; it should be a very interesting race in your state, much more so than in Illinois.
Peace and love,
Flakey
