tar42:I don't consider VIPSX as porn, Chin. The article is vague but does bring out some good points and is promoting VIPSX. Like any article, Chin, we can find some value for most readers willing to ignore certian parts of the whole........in this case FINPX and conclude that VIPSX is the more sonund investment.
Hi Tim,
The "Better bond investment," the title of your OP, he is talking about is inflation-linked corporate bonds. He is saying TIPS are inadequate.
I am not speaking out on some loyalty to Vanguard when I call this stuff "Investment porn," but the ramblings of journalists who are liable to say anything without an inkling of investment knowledge.
If you want to read, and discuss such as this, then do so. Please don't come back with something like. "I don't consider VIPSX as porn, Chin." Explain to me what was worth considering in the article. In this case, he offered the Fidelity IPS as " . . . enjoyed remarkable strong performance," with no mention of the risks faced in what the fund actually invests in.
Neither of them have "performed exceptionally well," but the Vanguard fund has done better than Fidelity, and Fidelity just barely better than the average. Other than noise, the difference probably comes out the difference in cost with these funds and others in the same category.
It's nothing personal. It's just that journalists are not qualified to offer investing advice.
