First off..thanks everyone for your opinions. Limoman - I've read many of your posts and have enjoyed your insights, humor and wit.
Currently, I am out of town but just checked in for a minute. I probably listed our portfolio wrong but I guess it's my mind set to break down by % the non-retirement taxable accounts separate from the retirement accts. The bonds and stocks are not included in any of the percentages. When I get back in town I'll try to combine everything as advised to get a better picture of our total AA. I didn't really have an interest to understand different mutual fund bond funds and just felt safer with EE bonds (sorry we didn't load up more on the I bonds). The savings bonds are more for a safety net for future needs - maybe I need to know we have something rock solid.
As far as pointed questions....a few are....currently looking to roll over 11k from and old 401k and not sure where to put it, would like to purchase individual stocks (maybe WFC, Bank of America,GE, JJ or BZP?), I've held onto Templeton Developing Markets since 93 and would it be a bad time to switch to a different nonload emerging market fund? Typically I like to hold onto a fund for a long time although just recently switched T Rowe Price Science and Tech fund for the Middle East/Africa fund. Is it bad timing for a reit? For nontaxable accounts we currently only dca $100 mthly into the Vanguard index fund and JSVAX. For college....we survived our eldest graduating this past May....yeah! As stated before, we do have a 4 yr state prepaid tuition plan that we purchased when the kiddies were in kindergardten along with 529's for room and board that we are currently dca'ing....and yes Limoman....if they decide they want private schools instead of in-state they'll be working at walmart to pay the difference!!!
We don't have the funds together in a brokerage firm because I was concerned about fees and then not being able to purchase funds that might not be available thru the brokerage firm. Is this wrong? Please clarify advantages vs disadvantages. We currently have the stocks in an Ameritrade account.
That's all I can quickly think of at this point........looking forward to further conversations.
