The reason for my question is that I have read (in various business news sources) that education/home ownership benefits for the past generations of vets paid off for the national economy -- with ratios varying from $7 of benefit for $1 of costs to $9 to $1. When my own brother came back from Germany in 1965 (with a wife and child) he went right into college, something that he couldn't even have dreamed about otherwise. The educational benefits then were much more generous than they are now.
Bubbygator and Luckyjimi, I don't remember having seen your usernames before, which means that I never greeted you with you choice of delicious, calorie-free, allergen-free, any-flavor-you-want cookies. (Of course, my memory isn't reliable.) Thanks for sharing you experiences.
