A very small piece of news, to be honest, but it shows that Wells Fargo is strong enough to make an aquisition today, instead of having to raise billions by selling common shares at a firesale price. It's the only U.S. bank with an AAA credit rating.
(Sorry to hijack this thread about GE and turn it into a discussion on banks. I still think GE is a buy for the long term, by the way.)
