Cohen is a relative new comer to American Funds.  From his experience level, my guess is that he is a young guy and if so, I don't blame him for not wanting to be in a fund that has held a sizeable amount of bonds at times.  If I were under 40, I wouldn't be in a fund that held any bonds at all.  His role in CAIBX is an equity analyst.  Perhaps like many others his age, between his house payment and student loan payments he doesn't have much left over to invest.
