While we are on the topic of Roth IRAs, I would like to add that I also have a Roth IRA with American Funds and am looking to get the heck out of loaded funds. Anybody know if I can do a "Roth to Roth Rollover" to another institution like a no load Vanguard or Fidelity without losing any money? Has anyone done this before or have experience answering this sort of question? I have read that it is quite realistic to do a Roth to Roth Rollover without losing a penny.
