Re: Does anyone know what OAKIX's problem is? Limoman  06-06-2008, 8:35 AM | Post #2525319

Well

1. It's a Int'l Fund For Openers..ie: A Sector fund that has had a Big Run the past 5 yrs and is due for A Correction and is going tobe More Volaitle as a whole

2. Comparable Index ( VGTSX) has done as well or better in the Bull Markets, but OAKIX shined in the last bear, but it still Lost $, none the less.

3. Many Pro's were advocating Downsizing ( underperform) one's % holdings in Int'l for 08' to like 5% and buy back on the Dips

4. If you In it for the Shorter term ? I wouldn't be in Int'ls..

6. I sold mine way back in early 07' ( took profits and Ran) and since my other funds had enough Foreign exposeur to suit me..( and I trust my other Fund Mgrs. better than myself and anyone else as to how much % wise to own..)

and FYI about DODFX? The only reason it shows a Better  Long Term ( beyond 5 yrs) is because it wasn't In business for most of the Last Bear Yrs and would have more than like done about as bad if it was.. and it's become no better than a Int'l Index fund and will probably continue to do so, now that it's So Large..

Of course, just IMHO, proceed at your own risk..
