Good points on the polls. The most important point I can add is that they are interesting, but it is WAY too early to tell anything from them, except that the election is likely to be close and could go either way.

I agree that Obama probably has a slight edge in the nationwide popular vote right now. However, as we know only too well, the election is based on the electoral vote, not the national popular vote. I find it somewhat encouraging (as a McCain supporter - an Obama supporter would perhaps find it slightly troubling) that the state-by-state polls, showing how the electoral votes are allocated, are somewhat more favorable to McCain right now. Of course at this point, I thing some of the state specific polls are likely even less reliable as indicators than the current national polls.
BTW, Twin, much as I would like to see McCain as president, I think it would be a big hindrance to national unity if 2008 were to turn into yet another election where the national popular vote winner did not end up winning the election. That has happened only very rarely in American History - as it should be.
