I can't disagree with anything you say, but we all do need our toys. My wife has a new Toyota Avalon, so that takes care of a big car for driving to airports, etc. We live on a barrier island of the east coast of Florida & I drive very little except for trips to see my daughter & family (about 90 miles round trip). A hybrid doesn't make sense (for us), so I bought a Smart Car. It was ordered on 5/24/07 and shipped from the factory on 5/27/08, so should have by mid June. I know, some think they unsafe (they're not) or too small (not for moi). Besides, if I don't like it after a while, I can sell it for about 8K more than I paid for it on Ebay. Those who may be interested or want to see their very high safety rating plus some clever commercials should mosey on over to www.smartusa.com Ron
