So they are two separate subjects.  I am not contradicting myself.

OK now I see what I was missing. The apparent contradiction was the acknowledgment of a relationship --sometimes!!! -- between market timing and market valuations, and then the statement that they're separate subjects. I was thinking separate as in 'kept apart,' (actually the word I had in mind was "unrelated"!), while you were saying separate as in 'different.'

Another cup of coffee might help me. :)
 
I cannot understand how you would see a contradiction unless you desperately hope one exists for some strange reason.
