I imagine Margaret’s problem has been resolved but that does not deter me.
My Sears opener of 15 years crapped out a couple of days age. A nylon gear that is driven by the motor was shredded. Years passed I would have ordered the part and repaired the unit but not now.
I shopped around in our little town and found openers ranging from $160 to $270.
The only one that met my needs (2 remote controls for the cars and a keyless enter) was, of course, the $270 job. I later found out that this particularly unit was built in Mexico, December 1999. Oh well, at least it was not made in China.
It is a Chamberlain Model 9200-2k. Many of the parts are identical or similar to my old Sears unit and the instruction manual is essentially the same expect for where the items are different. The Chamberlain is a belt drive while the Sears used the chain. The new unit has an electric eye that stops a closing door if the beam is interrupted; a feature I could do with out.
The Chamberlain is noticeably quieter but that feature does not add value as we live in the sticks and I would like to hear my door going up
I hope it gives me another 15 years of reliable use.
The wireless keyless entry control, Model 940CB, required pressing the Smart button on the main unit when Programming the control.
