Natixis is a French asset management company that used to be known as Ixis. It's part of the Caisse d'Epargne.  Not only does Natixis own Gateway, which it acquired in Feburary, 2008, it also owns such familiar American mutual fund comapnies as Loomis Sayles, Oakmark and Delafield.

 If you  do a little research, you will be surprised at how many American mutual fund companies are owned by European banks and asset managers.  For example, PIMCO is owned by Germany's Allianz and Pioneer is a wholly-owned subsidiary of UniCredito Italiano S.p.A.
