Ultrashort FTSE/Xinhua China 25 (FXP) fund not working as you'd expect

Checking the performance of my Ultrashort FTSE/Xihnua China 25 ETF I was shocked and disappointed to discover that it didn't seem to be working the way I thought it was supposed to. It was nowhere near to delivering -200% of the change in the underlying index. I called Proshares and started to do some research and discovered that these funds are much trickier than I had imagined and judging from postings on other message boards there seems to be a lot of confusion on this topic. In case you are interested here are the gory details of how the Ultrashort FTSE/Xinhua China 25 fund really works and the concept applies to any leveraged fund. Caveat emptor!
