2007 Stock Contest - Final Update

Welcome to the Final update in the 2007 Stock Contest.
Conversation #10540 on this forum lists the stock picks of all 55 contestants.
Everyone started the year with $2K in each of five stocks for a portfolio value
of $10K. The S&P ended the year +3.5% YTD - 28 of our contestants beat
that.
Strider (LFC, CTRP, VIP) is our contest winner, followed by Curiousperson in
2nd with the contest individual best stock pick of TXT, with BrassTax rounding out the podium in 3rd (WFR, ICE, CROX). Congratulations to
everyone!
I finally sorted out the ABY/BOW merger and have the shares updated for the
final tally (Koala and Mattw). Otherwise, everything wound up nicely it seems.
Once again it proved to be a difficult buy-and-hold for one-year
period, as 22 of our contestants finished in negative territory. Industrial
Materials, Energy, and Telecommunication were the best performing sectors in
2007. Here are the top 3 looking back a
