Dollar Cost Averaging Return 17%+12%+11%+1%=1%!!! silver_surfer  01-08-2008, 10:03 AM | Post #2474044  |

I started investing in my company 401k at the beginning of '07.  I contribute equally every 2 weeks between 4 mutual funds.  The four funds return 17%, 12%, 11%, and 1% for '07.  When I got my statement for the '07 year, it says that I made 1% for the entire 2007 year. How is that possible?  I understand that I had zero dollar on 1/1/07 in my account and would have realize the return above had i had a good sum of money in my 401k at the beginning of the year.  However it's pretty daunting that I made only 1% base on my fund's performance.

This is my second post and I would have to say that the forum tool on this website is horrible.  Can someone explain how to post a topic at this website?  I had to cancel out of a reply to a post and after a couple of clicks finally found the "Post New Topic" button.  How come this button doesn't show up at the beginning of a topic forum?
