Must be Better Places to Roll a 401K... JohnnyO  12-26-2007, 11:28 AM | Post #2469132  |

I would like to rollover a 401K from my previous employer.  And, as part of the new rollover, I would like to have access to many ETFs and Mutual Funds, perhaps some stock.  This criteria, I believe limits the attractiveness of single mutual fund firms like Vanguard, T. Rowe, etc.  Although, I would like to invest in some of those firms' ETFs and funds.

In addition, I like researching and making my investment decisions--however, I need good tools.  Tools and research that go beyond the typical subscriptions that many/most the brokerage firms offer.

I'm thinking that a brokerage firm may be the best place to roll a 401K.  However, I'm not crazy about most full-service firms (treated like a number, churning/sales orientation, etc.)--and am nervous about the discount/online firms, in terms of service, saftey, etc.

So, does anybody have a great and perhaps, not so obvious suggestions, where to roll a 401k with:

GREAT economic and stock research

Competitive transaction/account maintenance fees

SUPERIOR customer service

Good Range of Products/Services

Thanks!

John
