Stock Contest Update, 11/30/07 BrassTax  12-02-2007, 8:18 PM | Post #2461500  |

Welcome to the November update in the 2007 Stock Contest. Conversation #10540 on this forum lists the stock picks of all 55 contestants.  Everyone started the year with $2K in each of five stocks for a portfolio value of $10K. The S&P is up +4.4% YTD -  30 of our contestants are ahead of that.

As we head into the last month of the contest, strider (VIP, CTRP), Boliche (GRMN, NUAN, CHU), and curiousperson (TXT) are atop the leader board.  Both strider and Boliche have all their picks in positive territory – no small feat considering the volatility in this market and recent selloff.  Congratulations to everyone, especially our top 3!

Some specifics... Abitibi-Consolidated (ABY) merged with Bowater (BOW) to form a new company:  ABH.  I looked briefly for how they were handling the shares, but couldn’t find anything.  KoalaBear33 and mattwright owned ABY and BOW - if either of you know the scoop, please let me know so I can post the final rankings accurately next month.  Both Koala and matt are further down the standings this month as a result of that missing info.

Hombre Munchkin, you asked about EMU being acquired by Uranium One.  I did catch that one – check out the August contest update.  Finally, the top 2 gainers for Nov. (WCG and THC) are still down for the year, -43% and -21% respectively.  Thought that was worth mentioning.

Best wishes as we head into the holidays.
