Let's try not to confuse this further. You're talking about the differences in an elected distribution.

When you're requesting your Required Minimum Distribution, the money has to come from someplace. You're not penalized because you have an RA.

Therefore, it can come from the Traditional in an RA contract. But you can't choose that it should only come from the Traditional Account. It is prorated across whatever funds you have in that contract.
