Henry,
I am quite sure your Traditional $$$ are in an RA as what you were told makes sense. However, if the Traditional funds are in an IRA I know that you could indeed take all of the RMDs required for all of your IRAs from one single IRA and I do believe that includes funds taken from the Traditional Account in an IRA.
The main reason I post this is to ask you confirm that your Traditional funds are in an RA and to alert others to the fact that what you were told is only applicable to Traditional funds situated in an RA.
