The Benefits(?) of Active-Passive Combination AzRunner  12-26-2006, 9:56 PM | Post #2304069

I just read the Vanguard Institutional Investors article linked in post #9. It seems IMHO to be a relatively weak argument for the active-passive mix (that you have a low probability opportunity to out-perform the market).

The article plays to the existing strength of Vanguard's offering of active and passive funds.

Not discussed, but of interest to many Diehards would be a broadly diversified portfolio with a value and small-cap tilt, including an ample amount of international diversification.

The good news is that ETFs in virtually every market that Diehards seek will soon be available. We just have to pick ETFs that make sense and put the shareholder first.
